Project overview

TelemetryGrid is a personal Laravel application for exploring API-driven data ingestion and administration. It is a development project, not a commercial production platform.

Role and responsibilities

I use the project to explore application architecture, scheduled processing, external API integrations, data management, and administrative workflows.

Project context

External API data needs to be collected, normalized, and made useful through a consistent application workflow. The project provides room to work through those concerns beyond day-to-day frontend responsibilities.

Engineering approach

The documented application separates scheduled dispatch from queued ingestion. Administrators can manage sources, queue ingestion, inspect runs and normalized records, and organize records into feeds. Laravel and PHP support these workflows, with SQL-backed data management.

Technical considerations and tradeoffs

Ingestion needs to account for slow or unavailable providers. The documented retry approach distinguishes temporary connection and provider failures from permanent errors, rather than retrying every failure in the same way. Administrators can review recorded failures.

The current workflow focuses on JSON APIs. Feed membership is explicitly curated by administrators, keeping the initial scope focused rather than introducing a general rules system.

Current status

The project has a documented MVP for ingestion, feed organization, and administrative workflows. It remains a personal development application; no public repository or live application link is provided here.
